Wakes

I was writing today about Peress' work and it occurred to me that his most well known projects (The Graves, The Silence) require the audience be to shift away from the ubiquitous easily-digested images to truthful (and often hard & cruel) images. Obviously, reversing peoples thirst for shallow entertainment is a big task but it will bring us to a point where we shall see with clear eyes the injustice our world has wrought on many innocent victims. Peress is an advocate of human rights and it is clear what his politic is here. Greed Kills. He makes a compelling argument; its simplicity is its strength. This is street photography with a purpose!
TELEX WALL STREET Thank God in this era of homogenized crap there are still a handful of shooters like Gilles Peress around. What's so inspiring about this - besides the quality of the images and the power of the message - is that it proves that some old dogs can indeed learn new tricks, and the best of them can combine their old tricks with the latest tricks.
VERY impressive presentation -- most affecting & compelling! A super record of what has taken place. It will be an excellent vehicle for young people to learn about this episode in our history. BRAVO, Gilles!
A piece of history for future generations. Well done!!

Incredible forward thinking by Magnum, great content, great production, great delivery. Very inspiring and definitely the way forward for photojournalism. I must find me a way to produce final delivery of photo essays like this. Congratulations Gilles Peress and Magnum in Motion. Keep up the good work!!
