Istanbul: City of a Hundred Names
Alex Webb
In "Istanbul: City of A Hundred Names", Magnum photographer Alex Webb presents a vision of Istanbul as an urban cultural center, rich with the incandescence of its past, and most of all as a border city.

This is one artist's rendition of Istanbul, no need for comments that state "this isn't an accurate portrayal of the entire city!"

Every city in the world has its own characteristics. Istanbul is a very fantastic city as far as I know. I visited Istanbul several times. Your work is great, but shows only the poorest side of Istanbul. The similar maybe even worse images can be taken any cities in the world such as Paris, London, or New York. I urge you to put a few REAL Istanbul images as well. Only the beauty of the Bosphorus will be enough to fascinate anybody. In addition, Istanbul is a city of various faiths. Final word is what you show here is not Istanbul.

It is essential to show the metropolis Istanbul as in your photos to emphasise the diversity of this beautiful city. However, I was disappointed that transformation of years wasnt included in the essay, the other side of the spectrum. That is ;growing westernism with all its beauty and how Istanbul is a combination of both.

It is beautiful and Alex Webb seems totally sincere about his interest in the city and it shows in his photographs. Will this be on the podcast? -Lara

THIS ESSAY HAS LOTS OF MISSING POINTS. IT HAS REALLY BAD INFLUENCE ON TOURISTS. IT IS NOT PREPARED OBJECTIVELY. IT ONLY SHOWS THE POOR SIDE OF THE CITY. IF YOU WANT TO NAME IT "CITY OF A HUNDRED NAMES" YOU SHOULD HAVE SHOWN THE HUNDRED NAMES NOT THE ONLY NAME. AS INDICATED BELOW WHERE IS THE FACE OF ISTANBUL?

very good work, I really liked it. interesting thing is; you have captured one of the most beloved but not well known melody of the Turkish movies.
