Georgian Spring

"The President was very relaxed with me, and went the extra length to take me places where other presidents would not take their photographers: into closed meetings, to lunches and dinners, behind the scenes at the UN..."

Great work. Georgia is an amazing cluster of cultures, religions, fascinating landscapes and ancient history.

(Pier Paolo Pasolini)

After watching this piece it seems like Magnum has turned tabloid.

Interesting choice. Given the photographer's well advertised love of this republic it is perhaps above all a love for its head of state? Reminiscent of Soviet-style propaganda -- no matter how much Mr. Saakashvilli intones his democratic governance.
Or did I get it all wrong and this is really a political satire designed to make the president look foolish?
