give me a break...Castro stunted the growth of an island nation and kept it in the 19th century for the better part of 40 years. All he did was to substitute the existing mafia with his own version of "castro-nostra". wake up from your dreams and start living reality David!

The Time will Castro give tight, Cuba was the first territory free from imperialist domination in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the only country in the hemisphere, throughout post-colonial history, where the torturers, murderers and war criminals that took the lives of tens of thousands of people were exemplarily punished.

The biggest the Castro did-as he promised to do-was the rid the island of the American mafia. The huge profits being made were a strain on the nation as the culture had degraded to that of the poorest parts of an American large city. Castro expelled most of La cosa nostra throwing Florida leader and godfather Santos Trafficante in jail. He then proceeded to close down the casinos, the lucrative drug trade and the whore houses that he believed were ruining his country. The entire island was nationalized as well as the export of sugarcane, its biggest product.
Great Pictures and essay thanks.

Interesting but......you mix the trial to Gral Ochoa with the 1959 shootings against Batista criminals. Is it fair?
